Volunteer Opportunity

Erik’s Ranch & Retreats

An innovative solution to the autism epidemic.

Erik’s Ranch & Retreats is a unique residential living and development opportunity for young adults with autism.  The program provides a home as well as interesting careers, extraordinary activities, and daily opportunities to build relationships. Members with autism and their families work with our staff to create a life plan tailored to their needs and desires. Regardless of his/her beginning skill level, a career path along with recreational and social goals is developed, with progress monitored and adjusted to ensure meaningful lives full of possibility.

Individuals with autism often have difficulty finding and sustaining work or are relegated to performing meaningless tasks day after day. At Erik’s Retreat, we recognize that these individuals have the talents and skills necessary to engage in careers that are much more personally rewarding. To that end, we offer gratifying on-site working opportunities for members along with many off-site career possibilities developed in partnership with the neighboring community.

Therapeutic Riding Program

We also offer therapeutic horseback riding lessons designed for individuals 3 years-old and up with any special needs, not just autism.  If you like horses, want to participate in a great cause and have some free time to offer, Erik’s Ranch & Retreats needs you at our Equine Center to volunteer for the therapeutic horseback riding program. We are now offering fall 2015 riding lessons at Erik’s Retreat in Edina off of 62 and Xerxes in addition to our location at our farm in Belle Plaine.

No opportunities available until March 2016.
